After some delay in Miami, the whole team embarked for Port-au-Prince. Probably the most exciting part of the flight is that we were traveling with the Prime Minister of Haiti, Mme. Michelle Louis-Pierre. She is tall, statuesque really, a commanding presence. None of us talked to her!
We had the greatest (fastest and easiest) trip through immigration and customs. This team really came together to get all our luggage out of the airport and into the vans for the ride to the guest house.
By the time we got to Matthew 25 Guest House, it was dark. However, we managed to get settled in, unpacked and sorted, so that we are ready to take medical supplies, including the 64 pound suitcasewith the sterilizer to the Blanchard clinic.
As I write, we are assembling for breakfast and then an early church service, before it gets too hot. Since we're going to Blanchard for worship, we'll stay and set up the pharmacy and familiarize everyone with the new facility. This will be FHM's first medical mission in the new second floor of the Blanchard Clinic!
Family Health Ministries (FHM) is a faith-based nonprofit organization dedicated to developing long-term relationships with underserved individuals, families and communities to help them help themselves in culturally-relevant ways.
